glad you got it sorted in the end. not funny when the fault defies everyones best knowledge, then turns out to be something reasonably simple.

hopefully someone else will read this if they have the same problem before they spend bundles.

you never know, they may even go halves with you...

If it saves someone on here a few quid I'll be happy, I've saved a bundle by taking advice from people like OP on this forum myself before. If everyone puts a little back I'm sure most problems can be sorted without resorting to rip off merchants.

As a final note to this thread, the suppliers of the defective rear winder mechanism Steve Parker Land Rover in Rochdale took the unit back, tested it and gave a full refund on the cost of it. A good egg is Dave there!!

Hi all
I have been reading with interest the "reverse light " issues!! I have the same, the three amigos and no reverse lights!! I bought a new switch but I cant find the sod!! My car is a 1999 1.8. Does anyone know where it is and also I tried the "remove the brake light switch and press till it klicks" This worked for a few miles before the three of them came back on!! I still think it is a Great machine and WAY underrated!! Any help much appreciated.
Cheers
Jim

Hi, You may have already found this out but the reverse switch is found under the under tray. Take off the undertray (you have to remove the frame aswell as it is all attached) then the switch is on the passenger side on the front face of the gearbox. It has 2 wires coming out of it. Remember when you remove the switch gearbox oil will also come out so you need to block up the hole with something until you put the new switch in. The switch can only be seen once the undertray has been removed!
New switches are on ebay for under a tenner. Be aware also that some switches are slightly longer so you might need a metal washer. We changed ours today and had that problem, but a washer sorted it. Hope this helps!

Evening,
I've been following this thread, so firstly, thankyou to Sconner for a comprehensive posting !
My story is;
No reversing lights but all other electrics are fine.
So I have done the following;

1) checked rear bulbs
2) '' '' left side Earth ( thanks Hippo)
3) checked for 12v at reverse switch wire connector (good)
4) changed reverse switch. umb100100 (checked before installing, 'don't trust new parts')

Still no 12v at bulb holders.

Not sure whats next ?
Cheers,
Simon
