Does new clutch need bedding in or not??

My td5 is up and running with new clutch. Making a noise similar to when brake discs are worn, but only in the last second of revs dying down. Do you think this will go away as clutch settles in. Is a bedding in period required. This is first clutch i have done since a Dolomite Sprint 28 yrs ago, so need a bit of advice here.

The noise will be the thrust bearing bedding itself into the clutch cover, should go off after a couple of days

Thanks Dave. You have been a good help on this one mate. And thanks to all the others who gave advice on clutch renewal. I done this on my own, which in hindsight was not a good idea. I think i will put this one down to experience and file it away in the "Jobs i should have put more thought into drawer". Thanks again lads.

Did you clean the protective greece from the clutch pressure plate etc before fitting?? This can sometimes cause this sound as well.

I did mate. to be honest there was very little or no grease on it. It was packed in vacumed plastic. Gave it a good run today and seems to be a bit better. Noise is so little it seems only i can hear it anyway. You know what its like when you have spent time, money and effort on something, your imagination runs wild when your listening for things. Its nice and sunny here today and I enjoyed the run that much i feel bad about all the "f--kin Land Rover" "pile of S--t" "f--kin Disco's" kind of stuff that was comin out my mouth over the last few days. The love affair is back on. Until the next big repair
