god dam it my two button no LED fob has packed up :( i tried a new battery but still no luck GRRRR my spare fob works fine so im thinking its the fob thats shot. now if i buy one off ebay or else where (new) then judging by what ive been reading here i cant program this new fob to work on my 1996 300 tdi i will have to go to a main dealer and pay a kings ransome to have it 'programmed' ? is there any way of doing it myself ?

its shot now i threw it at the wall :)

i bought a new one from derbyshire land rover spares (DLS) and the total cost for a new fob and programming it was £35.19

very resonable i thought :)
£35 for fob and programming? 1 was quoted £57 just for programming robbing rastards.... whats the address for dls?

Got my fob programmed today
£10 for new key cut, £15 for programming and £10 for the fob, £35 all in which aint a bargain but its a far cheaper than a stealers quote of £57 just to programme a fob bobbing rastards.
If i hadnt've done it i wud definately lost the original feckers :D

ya jammy sod :)

ffok me RobinT has just been quoted £111 +pennies to supply and program a 2 button fob.
JLC main stealers in S London charged me £141,24 back in 1996. It's getting cheaper. They did throw in a battery for my other fob (although it still doesn't work properly).

I have similar problem - my D2 has two Valeo FOBs with keys - both works to open doors and start the engine (disable the immobiliser), but only one works as a remote to open/close doors. Other one just flushes the LED, but no door opening. Recently I was forced to change the car's battery because old one just run out and - probably - after that the one remote stopped to work. Due to that car is fresh bought I didn't paid attention to the problem when I was buying the car and now don't know what to do.

I have tried resyncing techniques described in this thread, but no luck. Any other suggestions what to do?

Cut from an earlier post...........................

A two button fob requires software to programme it, a single button fob is user programmable.
