Hi there I was just wondering if it is possible to fit a 2.5 tdi disco engine in a freelander.

As I have a 1996 disco which it rotten. but has a good engine, gear box and diffs. all low miles

And I went and bought a freelander last night that had broke the cam belt. )its petrol any way so I dont want that)

has any one ever attempted this ? If so any advice would be apreciated

I have changed engines in cars before. well Ive made 3 red top corsas and a 2.0 turbo corsa. :)

It's still a lot of hassle but you'd be better off sourcing a TD4. It's more refined than a 300 tdi, more fuel efficient, much quieter and produces almost as much torque. (unless you have a low range gearbox, which obv you don't)

The shear amount of work you would have to do, such as fabrication, electrics, finding a bell housing input shafts to gear box and time. It would be quicker selling the parts of the disco that are good and using that cash to get a good or new Td4 unit. There has been disco and gaylander highbreds done before do a search on hear and you will find them

thanks for the advice looks like the welder will be coming out for the disco and the freelander well. I may try to fix depending on what its like the freelander was just an impuls auction buy for not much more than scrap price.
