Hi All!

Strange question, I have a Disco 1 1995 300tdi in Coniston Green. I've had it for about 10 years, and in all that time have yet to see more than one or two others in the same colour. I'm just curious about the history as I can't find out much info on Coniston Green disco 300tdi's, except on US sites. It's not an import and was made in the midlands. Any clue how to find out more info on my girl? She's an ES model. I'm not looking to sell her, just get a better understanding of the colours they made and why I can't find any others!

Thank you!
Rich

Its possible that new owners went did like the colour, and preferred clear over a base micatallic green, like Charleston green, Woodcote green or Epsom green.
Coniston green is clear over a base solid.
I’ve seen two, both were at a LR main dealer and a one was under the spotlights in the showroom, the other was outside lined up for sale at another dealer as I remember it looked a bit like an army colour when i first saw it, that must have sometime in 1995-97

Anyway it appears it no a common colour as u say, but then I don‘t see many D1s now 🤔

Actually, I was thinking the same thing the other day. There were loads of D1s around a couple of years ago. Now I don't seem to be able to find that many. I wonder where they all went 🤔. It just baffled me as to why I couldn't find any others like it, it doesn't appear to be a special edition or anything. The stamp under the bonnet shows its Coniston, so I assume that's how it came out of the factory?

Off to the scrap yard, but only after off road the hell out of it then finally driving through deep flood water for fun.
I may have seen just one or two D1s in the last year, same for D2 and 3, a few D4 and 5s but no more.
DIsco sport and any variation of a RR there now loads and some times in a convoy, but also other brands… German and Japanese of course
Can’t say I’ve seen any vehicle with an old style prefix number plates like my 97 disco has in a long while.

Yeah, the 300/200 engines can last the time, but of I find one more rust hole I may cry! 😂. I imagine they've rotted away. Great little offroader though, lots of fun and goes through anything. I stopped using mine when diesel hit nearly £2 a litre. When you've got a 90 litre tank that adds up. And the tax on the D2s is crazy now. It's like £500 a year. Maybe that's the answer, it's just become to expensive to keep them as nice little toys these days. 🤔

I had a 1995 disco 1 3-door in coniston green. I bought it in 2002 and put around 95k on it over the next 8 years, fitting a suspension lift kit, bigger tyres, winch bumper and other extras. I sold it in 2010 when I went for a disco 2. I found it on eBay being broken for spares in the Nottingham area 3 years later… 🙁🙁
