Central locking replacement

Sounds like your nearly there, keep going and i'm sure your sort it especially with Discool on the case! Will wait till you have though untill i part with the hard earned dosh!

Well as you all know it was almost there.
Went to work this morning locked drivers door with key locked the remainder with remote chirp chirp.
Got to car after work this evening went to unlock and it's not working at all.
No chirping no indicator nothing.
Glad I can still unlock with key.
Got home checked all wiring everything checks out ok. But still nothing with either fob.
Ripped it all back out and put old actuator back in.
Annoying or what?
I spent extra £15 on wire to extend kit and for general crimps etc and with all the hours spent on it I should have just dug a bit deeper and got a genuine replacement.
Looks like the bin for this 1.
It's not as though I am new to auto wiring I have fitted several car alarms in the past.
Strangely now it's all back to standard the indicators flash when locking and unlocking off the key. Never done that in all the time I have had the car lol

Oh Bugger, how frustrating! Were have you searched for a genuine 2106 c/l ecu? As i have looked briefly but havn't found a price or site to purchase one!
Did you get a price for one and did it come with fobs or have to get existing one's re programmed?

Best price I have found so far for a single button is here
Landrover/Disco fobs
Or if you want 2 of them
Land Rover Discovery I Key Fob

I purchased a similar remote central locking kit from fleabay a few months back. Hopefully if the weather if ok next week when I'm on holiday I'll be having a go at fitting it along with replacing my drivers window so I'll post some pictures and and feedback on the system I have.

TBH I'm not expecting much but I like messing with vehicle electrics and for £15 I thought it's gotta be worth a try, if not I'll just destroy the thing somehow and take some pictures of that lol

Thanks for info but i will need the actual c/l ecu, my fobs seem fine but not much happening from the central locking ecu!

But if i find someone who has succesfully installed an alternative i will definatly go for that.

Heres a pic of the ecu, clearly shows the AMR2106!

Good question! It definately says 1997 on the log book, maybe someone has changed it in the past. Is there any other way i can check to see if it should have a different one installed? It does make 3 double tunefull beeps when i remove the key from the ignition. And the little red light is located between the clock dials, but dosn't flash or anything.

But it does seem to be a bit of an oddball as it also dosn't have the spot light wiring at the front either!

I need to double check the relays i think also.

3 double beeps?? Have you got a sony head unit perchance?

The log book gives the date of uk registration and the VIN that will give the model year.
So from VIN TA is should be fitted with the two button system with it's passive immobilision, without a fob being present at the ignition switch the engine wouldn't start. Unless it's a Japanese spec import that is.

As it happens YES it has got a Sony cd head unit!
My vin no TA513423, I have been presuming it has the right c/l ecu, but as it wasn't working when i got it, it might well have the wrong one in it!
But don't know how to tell, just want to get the central locking working even if it is just off the key!

The central locking is combined with the alarm ecu, the green box that can be seen behind the glove box after the kick panel has been removed.
If you can still set/unset the alarm I would sujest u look at the master actuator first as that may be faulty, it controls the locking/unlocking via a signal from the alarm ecu.

Hi Discool, i have already replaced the drivers side actuator. I tested the new one and it worked fine, but still not working the system.
I don't have an alarm system working as there is no led flashing or anything.
I will check behind the glove box this weekend and see if i have the green box!
