Have removed the carbon canister before in other cars I've had but just want to make sure it's ok to do on these things. Only want to remove it for abit more much needed room in the bay.

So is it alright to do without causing any problems? It as simple as unplugging it and blocking off the pipes?

no!
your car was a closed loop system on over run it pulses petrol vapour into the engine i would leave well alone

Vogue, my v8 is in a defender, no lambdas, I'm gonna fit lamdas shortly, do I need a carbon canister for any reason....?

No
You do know you will need to fit the cat spec tune resister
Why are you fitting the lambdas

yh, i know about the tune resistors. I'm fitting lambdas to try and get some more fuel economy when cruising (below 3000 revs). Above 3000 they have no effect right? It smells like its running to rich alot of the time.

What do you think to lambdas vs no lambdas?

I'm also working on getting the speed transducer fitted.

Just want it tyo work as well as it can.

Do t bother with the lambdas
Connect a ohm meter to the outer two pins on the Afm and turn the screw to 300 ohms resistance this set the Afm to 1.0% at idle which should be right
Until you have the rst fitted you will not have a proper idle control or the ecu understanding when it is running or idling
