Hi all. Started removing boot floor today and she ain't looking too healthy. Filler an silicone all over the place from PO. but I like to believe in the saying: it's never too late for an ald disco! I have to or I'd start crying... Lol.
Will post pics as I go.

All rails and surrounds of floor have gone and will need replacing.

ive got a boot floor thats only 6 months old that is atatched to the rear of the body i cut off mine, boot floor yours for £20 if thats any use ?

Cheers bud but I've got a nice big sheet of aluminium chequer plate that's going down. I'm not planning on ever doin this again so let's see this British weather rot ali!!!! Ha

The more I cut away the more rust I find, never ending. Gonna have a re design of the floor I think. Too much work to put it back as it was.

I bought a Jap Import Disco 1 in Dec 2004.
Rust is not a problem.
However after a few years I checked out the boot floor and found the foam backing absolutely soaking wet. Took 3 days to dry out.
Fortunately the floor was ok but the access plate to the tank was rusty and wet. Cleaned up the access plate and when I put it back I covered it with an old complete newspaper to soak up the condensation which I am convinced causes the wet in the floor. Checked the newspaper every 6-8 weeks for the last 5 years and boot floor and foam backing 100% dry.
Bit of a long story, guys, but think about it and try it out.

Well isn't that a lovely little story about ur rust free import. Unfortunately mines lived in **** wet Britain for the past twenty years and now resembles more of a rusty ald bucket than an actual motor vehicle..... I'm not jealous....honest. Haha

You cant use ali on the floor it has to be welded in !

and cue the debate over whether the boot floor is structural or not, this has been done to death:yawn::rolleyes:

Nicky do you have rear seats in the Disco? if so dont forget the seat belt mounts need to be structural but if not go for it and paint the underside with a boat load of underseal and stick a rubber mat over the top to help cut down on noise and the jobs jobbed IMHO.

Doesn't need to be welded in. The first rang rovers had an Ali floor that was riveted in. The only reason they stop this was due to price. Anywho finished the floor off today. Looks great. Well chuffed.
