The engine air intake will probably be behind the headlight in the wing. So He's lucky if he gets through. When opening my air filter and seeing water had splashed over the filter, I knew risk was very close.

Best tip when crossing water is not to.

Second best tip is to let someone else go first and watch. Watch the route they take. Look to see if they loose momentun = not enough grip or too much water in the way. Watch the roof line to see if they bounce about = indicates the bottom is uneven. :D

my old freelander td4 had the fuel filtter in the engin bay and that was siezed up as well you would never think how a piece of plastic could hold onto something like that did only problem I broke the top and it cost me about £90 from lr

personally I would have prepared my freelander prior to entering at that speed, i.e radiator muff or summat, your alternator would be drenched, let alone the air filter being damp too. Still, impressive photo, hope it wont cost too much in the future.........

Running fine, ran well both times round the course, ran fine driving the 150 miles back home, ran fine while taking me rough shooting the following day & has run fine up to this evening.

Sounds like the people in the know think I've been lucky, I'm happy about that.

End of the day though, pretty impressive for a standard "gaylander" with mild all terrain tyres :)

It's always a risk! Mines a1.8 petrol, I was more worried about wet plugs than anything and it conking out mid flow then a freak wave coming and washing me away:D

Now I could understand your fear of wet plugs alright!

Anyhoo, all I need now is that 2" lift & to mod a disco / defender snorkel to fit a freebie & I'll be happy :)
