Bad vibration between 40/50

Started to get a bad vibration between 40/50. It started when we were away last week so had balancing checked on tyres and all ok.
Got under it and checked prop shaft as thought bearings/damper they seem ok, but on the front uv joint that conects to IRD has both lateral and rotating play which I assume should not be there ?. Have dropped the prop off and the problem has gone, so Is the problem going to be the uv joint or any other thoughts.

Sounds like the joint - make sure all the Torx bolts are tight - may be worth slackening them seating it and retighten making sure you do opposite nuts and nip them up slowly ie go around a few times - tapping the joint each time to settle and seat it.

Should have posted, its was the front cv joint on the prop, have now got a replacement, and all is well.

Cheers for that - I have a what I am calling a wobble going through 2nd gear acceleration and a bit in 3rd. I replaced the front tie rod and the front diff mount which has improved things but not eliminated it - perhaps I should be looking at the same thing as you had.

Prop off for a test I think.
