Hi folks, have a little isue on my 2006 freelander 1 td4.when accelerating when i hit 55 through to 70 i get a lot of vibration through the wheel and gearstick, driving uphill exaggerates the issue, however if i back off the accelerator it stops then once back on the power it returns. so far i have replaced the upper and lower tie bars<both were shot but the problem remained, the rear prop bearings are new the vcu is good, this leaves me to think it could be the front drive shafts ,on checking them i found some play in the offside shaft, when the outer cv joint is held still the the shaft has a couple of milimetres of backlash, the nearside having only a tiny bit, could this be the source of the problem?

Possibly. Should not be play in shaft joints. If only under load that is where I would start. Get a genuine GKN shafy as cheap ones vibrate too. Could try swapping wheels front to rear. Could be balancing. Free to try !!
