Often missed especially by garages during simple servicing but worth doing Some people don't like doing it but it's simple enough How long since they were last done? Is there a heater common fault? (TD5)

It's worth checking your antifreeze strength too If ya haven't got one get a cheap tester it's better than a buggered engine I'm shocked how many folk guess the mix Remember too strong is bad as is too weak and don't forget pure antifreeze will freeze no problem

    Whistling/winning turbo

The stud will have sheared but anticipate loosening the others with care in case others fail I used to replace the studs at either end as they're usually fatigued It's always hit and miss with a bit of luck but centre pop the snapped stud and drill a pilot and try a good quality extractor that's...

Is there a heater common fault? (TD5)

300tdi poor power still a problem at low revs

We all bombard you with suggestions the easy and straight forward ones need addressed first before jumping to worst fears However if you've ran this tyre size a while and all was well before then the issue is elsewhere or as stated before highlighted by those big wheels

To buy or not to buy...

It's a good lump and quite refined 6 speed box is a good cruiser but that issue with the main shaft extension striping itself and eliminating drive to the transfer box is surely a lesson they've not learnt

    Replacing my td5 brakes

Top tip with bleed nipple undone or pipe loosened at start of work carefully press brake pedal to the floor and wedge it there fully depressed This will shut off further fluid loss and save more air being drawn in There's nowt worse than fluid dripping as you work

    Clutch Troubles

If you end up doing a clutch then do the fork and release bearing plus don't miss the bronze bush in the flywheel Bear in mind diesel clutches can rattle even new ones, the noise goes away when the pedal is pressed and comes back when lifted it's an unwanted characteristic often seen especially...

Defender Tdci bulkhead on a 300 tdi

A standard r380 gearstick comes up where the dash is on the Tdci and that's the stall point, folks seem to end up fitting the auto as the disco selector doesn't just bolt onto the defender gearbox The shaft inside has a grub screw that's 90 degrees different for starters The wiring by and large...
