    P38 4.0 V8 Kick Down Judder/No Go

Well funilly enough I changed the plug leads for the third time on Wednesday night (Lucas standard ones brand new) as the 8mm leads I put on her were crap and have sent them back. Ignition was better, but not great. Although Thursday went without hiccup. I'm going to test battery/alternator in...

    P38 4.0 V8 Kick Down Judder/No Go

Right, tried the MAF trick and although ever so slightly better, she still jolted and juddered over 2k and kick down is a no go. Just for reference I tried her using 'D' '2' ans '3' and still holds off on the higher rev's :( Battery check next...

    P38 4.0 V8 Kick Down Judder/No Go

Alright, Whilst my issues with no oil pressure at cold continue to be investigated, I picked up the RR from the garage tonight (had some cold oil pressure tests done) and went to overtake and on kick-down, she rev'd to about 3k and juddered/went no where, whereas previously kick down had give...

Spark Plug and Lead Change = Misfire on LPG

Just and update on this and I think I know what it is now... New leads are about 2/3mm smaller in diameter (the metal contact) than the old standard leads at he coil end, hence not contacting correctly, evident by black burn marks on a couple of contacts and one was an awful green colour all...

    P38 'jerking/jolting' on lift-off

Cheers for the comments and yep same garage, hence why I went to another to double check. Came to work today on both probs and noise not as prominent as before (the whine) but defo there. Incidently I have a VCU in its housing for sale at £75 delivered (what I paid) and has a 30 warrenty...

    P38 'jerking/jolting' on lift-off

P.S. the whine is back but now I think the front diff is shot I'm enclined to think the noise is at the front, also the jolting on lift-off is gone so assume that was a consiquence of being in 2WD.

    P38 'jerking/jolting' on lift-off

Well prop back on, tested VCU again for good measure and all ok, also had a play with ye VCU flange when handbreak off/in neutral and a fair bit of backlash but noise seemed to be very 'chain sound' from the transferbox. Have video'd the VCU test and that described above (badly) ill try post on...

    P38 'jerking/jolting' on lift-off

Hmm, well ill be sticking the front prop back on regardless so after ive done it ill double check the VCU again to make sure still ok and go from there. With regards to rear diff, it was supplied/fitted by garage as 2nd and they maintain it was a good one, hence why I'm apprehensive about...

    P38 'jerking/jolting' on lift-off

Many thanks for the replies people. With regards to the whine from 30-0 this started a few days after the replacement diff was fitted and I would have swore it was from the rear, the first garage (who fitted it) said it was rear winding up due to VCU when they road tested, but as I've noted I...

    P38 'jerking/jolting' on lift-off

Alright, Another day another problem when owning a P38, this time, in my drive-train. Following a replacement*4-pin diff install 2 weeks ago (due to horrendous noise being a fooked pinion bearing) I continued to get a 'rumbling' on over-run from the rear at speeds over 50MPH then vanishes...

P38 Oil Pressure Light - How Long Shoult it Stay on?

I know and I bought it and tried but could I hell get it off :o he had a right job too to be honest, although he removed the tensioner etc. Just wish the same could be said for my diff/VC issues... Got new diff two weeks ago and the VCU was "on it's way out" now they reckon it's buggered the...

P38 Oil Pressure Light - How Long Shoult it Stay on?

Ok just got back from garage and had her pressure tested. Cannot remember the exact pressures but the Indie said with a big grin 'you couldn't ask for better on that' tested at both idle and 2500ish. Changed switch and so far (fingers crossed) it goes out under a second after start. I'm...
