Take off the one that has not had a uj replaced so far. Noise goes away - change both uj's on that prop - £20 job done. If still there, change the uj's on the other. Simples
Was under my td5 110 to remove & check rear prop shaft UJ. As suspected fubarred. Waiting new UJ's coming. While I was at it, thought I would check handbrake shoes, had some probs parking on hill recently. :eek: Shoes liberally covered with oil. (outside of drum bone dry?) Will have to replace...
Pete, that was the case in a D4 I owned, but not sure about Rrs. Have tried looking into consul under cup holder but no can see. Also noise seems to be above rear axle area, further back than the D4. Hopefully someone can keep me right. The guy is still stuck.

Replaced water pump. Had to take off oil filter and centrifugal filter to get at water pump cover. Put all back together but forgot oil filter.... One gallon of Oil on the garage floor now!:mad:
Did it never start again after it initially cut out? Are you getting a good cranking speed? Battery condition OK? batt earth & ECU earth OK? Loosen the fuel pipe where it goes into the FPR - should get high pressure spray, anything less will not do. Let us know what you find...:)
Does the part number not need a "G" on the end to indicate it is an OEM? Does seem very cheap!
