Good Afternoon,
I live and work in Uganda and own a Defender TD5 110 1999 model.
Daily it drives in conditions that people seeking off road experience pay good money for. It is a people carrier, shifts heavy loads, an ambulance and is used for daily travel.
Although the last 3 years it has been very reliable recently the fuse has been blowing on the ECU unit (according to the hanbook). I noticed that the handbook states a 10 amp fuse but there was a 15amp so I replaced it with a if amp.
The only noticable effect of the ECU fuse blowing is that the alternator stops charging but if one does not stop the battery warning light not on before starting there is no indication of "no charge" until there is insufficient in the battery.
As far as I can I have checked for short circuits, frayed cables etc but found nothing. It can run weeks without problem or only a day.
Has anyone had this experience, found the problem and solved it?
