    Pump rebuild services

Does anyone know of a specialist that would be able to recondition a 200tdi fuel injection pump to a high standard around the heathrow area? Ours is playing up a bit at the moment, it has been re done before but the job was a total disaster had fuel spraying in every direction twice and got it...

Thanks very much thor1950 I did do a search but obviously worded it wrong. Thanks again, very helpful.

    Insurance areas.

So I've been told a lot that being in certain areas affects your insurance premium. So i live in London (right next to heathrow) if I was to insure a 2008tdci 90 vanel van would it be more expensive as a pose to living somewhere like Wiltshire or Cornwall ? Just getting an idea as to how...

    Am I the only one?

I came to that conclusion as well and yeah I do agree, not being used to these low mileage gearboxes is the issue I think. Only got 10,000 miles on the clock, I'm used to tinkering with cars that have at least 100k on the clock

    Am I the only one?

Rant was probably the wrong word, explanation would of been correct but doesn't sound as good ;) and I agree to disagree, I agree driving in the garden or a field is not road driving it never has and never will be however it gives a gist of the basics of driving (gears, steering, throttle...

    Am I the only one?

To be fair I have not passed comments about driving, sure what I'm doing currently is not by any means the equivalent of road driving however at no point did I compare it to road driving or say it was road driving as it cannot be classed as road driving if the majority of my experience is off...

    Am I the only one?

I was sat in the seat of a tractor at the age of 5 and taught how to drive it, move a lot of fully loaded skips around with it and then progressed into the seat of my dads disco 2 at the age of 7. When I felt comfortable that I could drive that up the driveway and back properly and could turn it...

    Am I the only one?

It has got some incredibly bad issues if I'm honest. When it's running it is beautiful as it is at the moment but give it until Monday and something else will have gone wrong with it. I just feel more at home in a land rover anyways out in the country I'd probably of kept the mini to blast round...

    Am I the only one?

Mines a 1340cc twin carb, with a stage three cylinder head and a high lift cam, goes like stink but not quite as reliable as a land rover. Considering keeping the mini but I see it as more trouble than what it's worth

    Am I the only one?

Both the land rovers I drover are my dads, the tdci has only got 10,000 miles on it from new. It's more of a toy to be honest, his 200tdi that I also drover has starship mileage but that's his work horse so to speak. My dad doesn't find it hard to drive though he reckons it's just because I'm...

    Am I the only one?

So I get into a 200tdi and the gearbox is absolutely spot on, changes perfect and no dodgy clunks on any changes at all. I then get into a 2008 tdci and the gearbox seems to be atrocious, clunks from 1st to second, tough to get the right gears and always takes a while to get from one gear to...

I reckon I could get my dads 200tdi panel van at around that price. I have considered the tdi's but as we've got one already I feel the need for something different. Thanks for that though MR BFG it's helped a lot. Not many people our age think to try insuring a land rover but it just goes to...

Not really more money than sense when you think about it. I'm going to get ripped off for any car that I try and insure so why not just do it in style instead. I got quoted the same price for my dads 200tdi defender so effectively buying a £500 ****ter and not worrying about crashing it will...

I phoned the insurance company's and told hem I was 17 and had just passed my test with the pass plus qualification and they was happy to help. And I just prefer the look and feel of a panel van land rover. Feels more utilitarian and rugged. When I say I can get away with a panel van I mean a...

I'm currently 16, I got quoted £3100 for a td5 and inthe price didn't change regarding a tdi or tdci engine. Yes I am in the fog and smog zone but I can currently get away with a late td5 90 hardtop and the tdci hardtop. Personally I prefer the look of the hardtop but either as long as a 90 or a...

My budget is all up in the air at the moment. I need to flog my mini first wich literally just broke again. Probably get around £4000 for that. Got £2k to spare and my dad said he will help me so I reckon about £13,000 or so. Maybe if I come across a particularly low mileage one in good nick...

That's one had serious gearbox issues, couldn't select any gear very easily and the famous cylinder head issue and oil in the ecu problem. Web ad a td5 disco and it was fine but it was auto so acted completely different to the Manuel

If it's a genuine station wagon then it should be compliant regardless I'm lead to believe. If you do a my car check on the vehicle if it come back saying "light 4x4 utility" then the likely hood of it being a genuine station wagon are very slim. Matt.
