Yippie - plenty of smug time coming up...

I agree. I have heard that story so often that I just ignore it. The last time we did have good snow was the one time they didn't forecast it...go figure

    still overheating

It wouldnt help but i doubt it would cause overheating like you described. When i bought my '99 the engine sounded rough but I suspected duff plug leads (they were new and looked crap). I drove home 130 miles where i dicovered that the leads were crossed on 4 &6. She never overheated.

time for a bashing off you lot!

Are you sure there is a fuel filter on your model? I thought the in line filter was removed from the '99 onwards models.

    engine disabled

Sounds like the standard RF rxer issue. If you do not have the latest rxer i suggest you disconnect the antena wire. She will likely start after a few minutes.

An they let them out unsupervised

Reminds me of an episode in a shoe shop years ago. I handed the sales assistant a pair of shoes and asked her if she had them in size 11. She reappeared 5 mins later with a box and handed it me. I proceded to try them on only to notice they were size 9. When i questioned this she said she didnt...

Orings and blend motors.... What method did you use

The first time i did this i followed the shortcut method. The screw was locked solid and nothing i could do would budge it. I eventually decided to pull out the dash which isnt a complicated job but does take a couple of hours. Replacing the 'O' rings this way is easy - even if the screw is...

    Starts but wont run

More than likely but not people are able to that over here due to housing associations etc. Would definitely be worth it as a spares dog if you had somewhere to store it.

    Starts but wont run

Thaks for all the pointers. I took a run out to look it over. Swapped the relay as suggested but no joy. The rest of the car looked reasonable but it just wasnt talking to me - if you know what i mean. Definetly not worth the gamble given that you cant check if she overheats. I will continue my...

    Intermittant Complete Electrical failure

Give the main 12V feed to the fuse box a good wiggle. If the connection to the fuse box is suspect you will quickly confirm it.

    Starts but wont run

Hi guys I have an opportunity to pick up a '95 4.0SE for less than $1000. The car looks clean in and out with no obvious faults other than it wont run. It will start but stalls almost immediately. The guy selling it believes that it needs a new fuel pump. What do you guys think?

P38 petrol turns over but wont fire up.

When you say "still no luck" does this mean you have tried fitting a new crank position sensor?

Looks like this sub-board is gonna have to be split soon

A quick glance on the first page of the forum shows more or less a 50/50 split between P38's and L322's. Only 1Classic but more interestingly zero Sports. Is the Sport too young to be appearing here or is it a better built motor?

Cheesed off :( in need of help please guys sorry....

Excellent news. Now you can take it out for a run and watch her overheat...

Cheesed off :( in need of help please guys sorry....

Do you ever really get over the paranoia? Other than a failed starter motor and a dodgy fuse box neither of mine ever left me stranded. Didnt stop me worrying every time I drove them though..

A few issues in my 4.6 HSE

    1) A standard feature is auto dipping mirrors when you select reverse. If you dont like this (I dont) it can be disabled by turning on ignition - dont start it, select reverse then hold the the memory seat button. A message on the message centre will confirm if it was successful. 2) Most likey...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

Is there any way that the thermostat can be plumbed in incorrectly? I'm guessing no but it has been a year or more since I last removed one.

P38 petrol turns over but wont fire up.

Two things that spring to mind:- 1) Cam sensor failure won't stop the engine from running - ECU will use some pre-stored defaults to keep everything running albeit a little more rough. 2) Crank sensor failures don't register fault codes that can be read using diagnostics. You will need an...

Hi John Great to see you back on the forum. Hardly a word from you for months and now 10 posts in as many days. Are you starting to miss your old rangie??
