Disco 3 - Any known faults

My mates ate a set of tyres in 20k. No other faults on his though, but I have heard some horror stories, but saying that my TD5 hasn't been a bed of roses either! Rob

You shouldn't be putting that much down force on a towbar anyway, if it's squatting, you aint got it loaded right. Rob

Help with Gear/Transfer box and axle oil changes

I don't know to a sythetic ATF, someone here might. They always seem to be mineral based. We use Dextron 3 at work, and it pretty much seems to be the industry standard from what I've seen. Saying that, the only auto box we've producted is the Powertronic, and thats being fazed out in favour of...

Help with Gear/Transfer box and axle oil changes

That's manual gear oil, ATF (automatic transmission fluid) also has to withstand pressure to run a fluid flywheel / torque converter. Dextron 3 is the norm now for ATF. Here's thier version Xado UK - ATF III Automatic Mineral Gearbox Oil | ATF III Transmission Oil | Mineral Transmission Oil...

    td5 airsprings

Did my mate, and no not really. His had ACE on it, so it still cornered well. I'll probably do mine if it goes tits up. The air's a bit of a gimmick really. Rob

    td5 airsprings

Take the air springs out and fit coil ones. You'll need someone who can tell SLABS ECU that it no longer has air suspension. I'd also remove the compressor, level sensors and anything else e-bay-able. Rob PS Welcome to the loony bin.

Smoke(Burning Smell) from Air Filter after Water Pump Change - Car Won't Start

Me thinks your mechanic is talking out of his arse. I'd take it somewhere else for a second opinion, or get yourself a compression tester and check it yourself. Very easy, just screws in where the spark plugs go and turn over. Like CharlesY says, dont get ripped off! Rob

Help with Gear/Transfer box and axle oil changes

I'm amazed the difference sythetic makes, to be honest if it didn't come out of the wall at work I wouldn't have tried it. Got a rear axle seal weeping at the moment, so it'll have another change when I do that. Rob

Help with Gear/Transfer box and axle oil changes

Make matters even better, they run synthetic diff and gear oils and they are compatible with the Disco AND as I'm using such a miniscule amount compared to an FH12, they don't even bother charging me for it! Result! (Sorry biglad, couldn't resist....) Rob

Diff Lock Dash Light - Discovery 2

That should not be possible with traction contol. Even with only one wheel with traction, it should put the other 3 brakes on to get the motor moving, which is more than what CDL would do. You can still have the option Mike, Ashcroft do the kit. Rob

    2006 Disco 3 TDV6 catching fire/warranty

One thing to bear in mind, they really won't wan't any negative press at the moment, not as they have just got new owners... this could play into your hands. I would def. say you want a car of the same age and spec, you bought a HSE in the first place, not an SE. Your telling me that no...

tacho no work on tdi disco

Just a quick thought, if it's a Kienzle 1318-24 or Veeder Root 8300 series and the battery has been disconnected, the speed stilus has probably gone to max (Indicating power interuption) open the lid, and if the upper stulus is right up the top, with the ignition switched off turn the white...

tacho no work on tdi disco

What type of tacho you running? The white 8 pin plug on the back carries the power supply, (1-batt pos. 2-Illumination pos 3-ign pos 5 & 6 neg.) The yellow plug is the sender unit connection to the gearbox drive. Red (if fitted) covers RPM Brown (if fitted) output signals to accesories (speed...

No, if it's repairable it free, if you have to claim you pay the excess for windscreen cover. It does not affect you NCB, I know as I've already claimed. Unless your with a mickey mouse insurance company. Rob
