So I finally worked out why I can't get the dash out. The bolts at the back holding the frame work in are riv-nuted in place. Now as the bolts are rusted the riv-nut is just spinning.... and no amount of leavarage against the bolt helps undo it.... is this normal? Any ideas to how to undo...

Hi. I have to replace the front chassis section where the bumper goes on. And the spring mount. I can repair whay I already have or I could replace. Means I will have to remove the spring mounting. The springs look Very tough. Are they a pain to get back into the mount once dropped? This will...

So I am going to strip my engine to see what needs replacing/machining. Anyone know of any improvements I could do to the engine whilst in there? Anything I could do with the head? Also I am thinking of fitting a good electric fan and removing the mechanical one, And making some sort of drain...

The crane was on concrete but I found when the crqne is under alot of load it must just let oil past the valve and Let's the engine to the ground.... Yeah need to look at the clutch. May be a silly question... Why would I need to just nip up the bottom two bolts carefully?

Hi. Took the engine out of my car today. Wow what a fight!! Nearly every single nut and bolt was either seriously tight all the way off or rounded nut head!! What a pain in the bum! I left the gearbox in and removed the front panel that holds thr bonet up. Also i had to grind the front...

Fantastic thanks for the advice. I cant see drain holes for the tow bar boxing part of the chassis. Is that ok to leave? I jet washed mine and the amount of mud came from under it. Theres still alot there but its so much better!

Hi. I am thinking of ways to look after my chassis through the winter. At the mo there is underseal under there but its very old. Should I clean the old stuff off or leave it on there? Should I wax oil inside the chassis? Does it matter I cant clean it all out before hand? Is there any holes...

Its a 3 main bearing crank. Why is there 3 or 5 bearing cranks? Guess early engines and later?? 5 bearing cranks stronger I guess?

So. Bought a series 3 the other month and got it home, the bottom end was knocking. So I pulled the sump. Lots of metal.... pulled the big ends off. There not usable as its through to the copper. Got some new shells ready to fit. So tonight pulled the 2 main caps and the oil pump. Oil pump...

Well thats good to know because I can't find one for sale on famous four website but think I found one on paddockspares website. Original panel including Vat comes to over £1000! I may well just repair what I have.....
