When you say it bolted straight on and just moved engine mounts, do you mean you had to move the chassis engine mounts and weld them in a new position, or do you mean you could just move them on the engine? If that makes sense. Looking to do this conversion and i don't have a welder :o

Hi guys, my dad has decided to gutt his 90 of it's 2.5l J19 engine and drop in a rover 3.5 V8. It's just his weekend toy which is why we decided a v8 instead of a trusty 200tdi. I have been looking everywhere for a detailed thread of everything we will need for the transplant (with pictures :o)...

Not sure if it would be the clutch, that's still working fine. The clunk as I said is when I take up drive and/or let off the accelerator so Im moving when it happens and not when I'm using the clutch. Yep thats almost definitely got to be a worn diff on its way out. Or a UJ If its not a diff...

Are you still driving it? Mine was clunking and shuddering while moving then, loss of all drive unless put into diff lock. It should be easily noticeable if you take a gander at where your prop attaches to the back of the diff. Mine was leaking and you could shake my prop up and down it was so...

i've guessing you've checked both diffs? mine just went and thats exactly how it sounded.

First go at welding? That's pretty impressive. Need to get myself a welder.

So? Is P/B back in business? If so I would be interested in having my x-member done by him. Been looking around and his work looks far supirior then anyone else. Definitely don't want to take it to my local land rover "specialist" the guy is an idiot. So be warned people, don't take your pride...

I drive a 200tdi 110 CSW and I average 26mpg. I've always thought the td5 was roughly the same. Chuck a bit of veg oil in and I save on the penny's too. Can't do that with your fancy td5 ;)

My brother done the same. replaced the starter motor and still wouldn't start. got him to clean the earth's and that's all it turned out to be. hope it turns out to be the same simple solution for you :)

sounds like the starter motor. be careful trying to jump it because if it is the starter motor you'll end up burning your battery out if you keep cranking it and cranking it. get it off, on the bench and test it, strip it down, clean, inspect and then bench test again. they tend to get filled...

why not just fit a 300 tdi safari snorkel and just link it up with some flexi hose? That's what i plan on doing. should be able to stall my engine from the top of the snorkel when it's done.

As long as you have another car or another way to get to work and prepared to get your hands dirty. I drive a 1989 200tdi 110 and i spend more time under it then i do in it. but i do quite a considerable amount of off roading and it's done 250k. But i still love it.
