hi everyone, ive been offered a 1988 defender 110 at a very good price, good chassis and engine, body a little ruff but thats no problem. It has its original engine, just wanted to know are these engines any good? Or should i replace it with 200/300 tdi? thanks

what's a good price?? I just paid £2k for a 97 300TDi 110.

I'm assuming 2.5Td engine they're fine if they're looked after. if going for a swap 300tdi is the easiest. Just needs new engine mount welding in. and flywheel housing off TD engine swapping over.

And it came with running water and a second use...........as a colander ;)

Only poking. Mine was 2300

been offered it for 500, think milage is about 180 thousand but not 100% sure, no rot is chassis, body just needs tidying, thanks for advice, think il go ahead and buy it :)

Thats a really good price. Normally would be rotten as you like for that money. 2.5 td is fine if its good I have done25000 miles never missed a beat, but it is pampered and it was good to statr with. Old and worn they can be lots of trouble, if its one of those its best to replace or if your ging to do a lot of miles on the road the 200/300 have loads more power.

Still, if he can get a 200 for say 400 quid and fit it himself, that's a potentially cracking landy for under a grand. I wish I had offers like that
