Yep, nigh on 600 for me as well. De cat pipe egr'd and pumps tweaked. All tyre pressure at 38 and I do a fair bit of round town as well. My 300 tdi is on average 200 miles better per tank full than my td5 auto thing. Its much nicer but than the 300 but you don't half pay for it!

If the threads being stripped someone has used to much force in the past and wrecked it. if you use a torque wrench this will not happen. Use a new sealing washer as well. If the thread is stuffed on the 300 tdi then i would see how much a replacement from a breakers is.

Large blunt flat screw driver and tap undone anti clockwise until loose (in reseses). When you tighten it back up ensure you fit the seal correctly and it is inside the pump lip, then push the top down and tighten clockwise. it takes a lot of turns to tighten so keep going until firm!

I don't know if a Defender one fits but Allisport have a way of fitting a proper pump (Bosch) to the system that is capapble of delivering the fuel to the injectors. This will not fail. i have had 4 in tank pumps in as many months. it is a very poor design. by pass the lot and speak to allisport.
