Hello all, some little sod keyed over my bonnet the other weekend and I'd like it patched up. The colour is plain black and the scratch mark goes from left to right, how much should I expect to pay and does anyone have any recomendations for where to go in the Herts area?

Now If the scratch wer goin right to left i would of suggested googlin stone chip / scratch repairs, So sorry cant help !

well thats a dam shame that is , cos yers good at yer right to left .... shame .... :rolleyes:
 
Some one keyed mine as well some months back, last weekend bought colour magic it came with lipstick style wax touchup, i applied wax just like crayon and waxed off two or three times building up layers of wax/colour each time, my scratch was down to primer and now you can only just see it if i told you where to look well impressed, took some time though.

So here are the pictures, as you can the scratches haven't reached the primer but are still unsightly. Is it wise to go it alone with either a halfords scratch repair kit or touch up paint pen from Land Rover? What ye reckon ?

I had some similar scratches on a motorbike I sold not so long ago. Black is an absolute bitch to cover faults but here's how I did it, worth a try and costs nowt. Fill the scratches with good old black boot polish. A couple of applications and let it dry between coats, then buff it up. Might not work on yours but If it doesn't you can always paint it.
 
like hughsey said black is a hard colour to patch it seems to stick out like a sore thumb , you may be better to get it done proper if you think it's worth it ..... little ****s whoever did it , we bought a fiesta brand new back in 2001 and within two weeks it had been keyed both sides and kicked on the front wing ... :mad: that was also black , panther black . we did'nt get it repaired cos we could'nt afford too . ...... bastids ....

they wil come out, G3 compound, a good preffesional body shop buffer, low speed and wet and it will grip the paint nice and blend that in ;)

got much worse out :rolleyes:
 
Thanks Raz8, would G10 compound be better as it's black paint, also I'm going to use a buffer attachment on the drill, should I use lambswool or can you recomend anthing better?

Any money saved on repairs to the bonnet could usefully be spent finding the little brat, and performing a gentle kneecapping activity for your enjoyment...

You can get the proper compounding head for buffing and as raz says use g3 or g10, get your hands on some 3m finishing compound aswell if its black paint as it will get rid of any swirl marks left by buffing then finish off with autoglym super resin
