Hi Buddha. many many years ago in the depths of time i had an original mini pick up which did exactly the same at 100,000. it turned out to be the cable that had worn then whne the clock reached the round number and it had to turn over all the cogs it locked. i solved it by replacing the cable...

i have seen a 90 with a 110 rack on the owner had added extensions which bolted to his front wings somehow. although i have to say i didn't like the look of it. may be better to cut it down mate.

that looks nasty mate, and it is always the hardest bolt to get to that snaps. personely i would keep drilling and re tap it may take a while but at lest you will know the job is done right. try screw fix for heli coils if you need them. they do work fine. i have used many when i used to work...

i am no real expert but a friend had a similar problem wiht his Kit car. when we stripped the head off we found that one of the coolant holes in the head was blocked. my be worth checking out.

thanks Disco, i was thinking about slotting several Disc and Range Rover parts on to it. a lot will depend on what working etc when i get it. i had read several articles where transfere boxes have been swapped over. is it a fairly straight forward job?

Nice one guys exactly what i wanted to know. my plan is to try and get hold of one the has a decent chassie and a runnable engine. i am not worried about the body work and interior as i plan to add my touch to those as a project. then i can upgrade / replace engine and running gear as and when.
