I'm on my 4th set, 2 blown, 1 set of upgrades, and now on Phillips Extreme, which seem to be lasting better (and loads better light output over standard) I too have A bar and spots, and yep, it's a right sod to do, takes me about an hour !!!

    new code

If you have entered a wrong code, you have to leave it along for a couple of mins (with the ign on position 1) (if you entered it wrongly twice, the delay doubles, 3 wrongs it trebles etc etc, so 3 wrong attempts will = 6 mins delay !!! Patience is a virtue !!!

    tin wirm

I can recommend this product . . . we use it on outdoor substations, and it really does work - can be over painted with the likes of Hammerite etc. Not sure you'll get it in a DIY store, but readily available mail order etc http://www.nwepaints.co.uk/acatalog/Galvafroid%20Data.PDF

    Td5 Tyres

Michelin or BF's are probably the best in the market for mileage Do you do much off road stuff ? if so go for the BF AT's (if you can get the right size, if you do mostly tarmac, go for Mich's bit more expensive, but will pay back on miles !!

    Tyres: notifiable modification or not?

Ihave fitted BF AT's to my Disco (see avatar) and also changed the size (from 255/65/16 to 245/70/16's) and did check with my insurer, and was catagoricaly told that it was fine, and had no bearing. :) Maybe if you changed to some oversized mud pluggers it may have an impact, but knowing...

    Evening from kent.

It would be unfair to LR to say 'every single freelander' is cr*p, but . . . there is an awful lot of critisium on the petrol ones . . . on the other end of the scale, the diesels, especially the TD4 are very good, it's a BMW engine that's why . . (a colleauge of mine at work has a 04 reg TD4...

    Evening from kent.

Freelanders, especially the 1.8 petrol have suffered badly with engine issues, particulary 'head gaskets' . . . PLEASE, before you part with your heard earned £'s make sure it is ok, and check on any warranty, or you WILL have to get it done sooner or later, and it's expensive (unless you're a...

    TD5 Misfire

The ECU should not have been buggered, (extremely robust unit) I'd be asking the dealer to prove to me it actually was (if they can't or fob you off, demand some £'s back)

    Advice required

    Mitchellin or Pirelli?

I do, they are a good tyre, but won't give the mileage Mich's will !! Although I run on BF's (made by Michelin btw) and they give exceptional mileage, typically 60k +
