I am about to start sometime this month to remove my 200tdi disco lump out and put it in garage for new seals etc etc then put it in my defender ex mod 2.5n/a. How long should I expect to to this ? An hour ??

Is there a damper in the brake pipe line by the engine bay in disco ?? This stops the rear discs locking up after apply the brakes ?? Take that out and put it in defender for 4 wheel disc. I think there is a damper I might be wrong

As landy wiltshireman said. Defender is the most easiest car to rebuilt or repair Recon mm 40-80 depends. But u could take your starter to auto electric for repair etc not much. It is only a starter it don't do anything else If u ask nicely maybe one of us here will do it for yer if...

Replace breather pipes. Not paint it. I mean paint the axles.

There is threads. Rebuild. Bulkhead etc. while tub is off u could replace the brake pipes if needed and tidy up the suspension paint the axles Breather pipes service the tranny and gearbox oils Bushes replace ? Not much else. Waxoli inside the chassis Td5 will fit but slight mods...

I used one of them plug socket The ones u use to remove plugs in petrol engines etc

That 2.5n/a is a great bullet proof engine. Will work hard for u as long u service it every six months. The army can't. Be wrong if they stick with that sort of engine. I have the same in my ex mod 90

85mph in defender !!! Doors will rattle the fuel indicator on dashboard will move faster then the speedo from full to empty !!!! Mine is defender ex mod 2.5n/a. Plodding on at 55mph. Happily

I have 1986 2.5 n/a ex mod. But engine don't matter on wiring diagram they are all same I believe except the miltary as different wiring but what is your specific question ? It is to rewire or summat. There is wiring diagram on here that u can download

Most people replace the rear axle on defender 90 with disco 1 axle for disc brakes etc rather drum brake. Better all four wheel brakes stronger and no mud clogging inside too need to put a damper on pipeline by the reservoir towards the rear to stop the rear brakes lock up etc when applying...

It is really money issue etc. for a brand new look. Sandblast and powder coated whatever colour u want etc. for a good look on the cheap. Rattle cans etc finish off with lacquer So basically your choice mate

Might help u there mate. From my experience. Prepare is the key. And do it now when it is sunny. Harden the paint. First. Use wirebrush on a drill and lightly strip the shiny paint off then blow air on it and use wet/dry sandpaper and rubb it then use primer two coats and lightly sand it...

Love your rebuilt. I wanna do the same on my ex mod 90. Question. Your paint job. It is. Prime sand them colour base and sand down then clear lacquer on or was it one spray job and polish up ? I want to do mine in black gloss and they tell me no need to sand down just polish up after spray it...
