Hi All, Got in the landy today after having the starter motor and alternator fixed only to find the windscreen washer is'nt working. The rear washer works fine and the windscreen wipers come on when i press the washer to work but no washer. I've checked the fuse and obviously because the wipers are coming on the fuse is ok. Does the rear washer use the same pump as the front? I'm a bit confused.

No - pumps are accessable via removing the front left side head light if you have an older landy - tank comes out for newer ones - should be obvious by looking at where the tank is to work out which one you have.

I suspecta wire may have come off!
 
If ye go outside and open yer bonnet, ye'll see the washer bottle sittin' up above the wheel arch. Ye'll see 2 black round things on the bottle near the bottom, one will work yer rear washer and the other the front. Get somebody to press the switch and you touch the pumps to see if ye can feel it workin'. Check the wires at the connectors if it's not workin'. If it is, then check yer hose fur kinks, blockages or if it's came off the jets.

Are ye sure ye're no' on a wind up TD??????
 
The windscreen nozle could be blocked with gunge. Mine stopped working but I could still hear the motor working, turned out the nozzle was blocked.

If you have the twin nozzle in the centre of the windscreen, lift the ashtray out, pull the washer pipe off the inside of the nozzle, and press the washer lever again. This might force any blockage out.

If this works, then why not do the wiper mod while your at it (details to follow if needed).
 
I can't hear the pump working when i press the front washer but can hear the rear one with the engine off that is.

So there are two pumps then, one front one rear?

No not on a wind up bust.

Just gonna go and check it.
 
The pump is knackered. The spade connector which goes into the pump is loose. Looks like i gotta get a new one. Cheers Guys.
 
A new set of wipers will help that problem. With some decent window washer soap from halfords, the pink stuff is the best.

Just an idea, try swappin' the wires over to see if the pump is really knackered.... if ye haven't done already;)
 
Yeh its definatly the the pump, i just swapped the wires over and the rear pump started working. Cheers Bust.
 
I have a pump I don't want after some arse hole sold me the wrong one, it's been used. Is yours the one with a spike that pushes through a rubber gromet or does it have a 1/2 inch "pipe" that goes through. If it's the spike type I'll send you it if you want?
