Hi All,
I was thinking of putting a winch on the front of my freelander, any Ideas on type, power ect.

I have a small boat and want to pull it out of the water ect

you need a winch mount first and a battery that'll take the draw

you can buy the a frame for the front ,which has a detachable winch mount.i was going to do it on my old one i brought everything ,but then changed my mind i sold the a frame.

if its only for pulling a boat out onto a roller trailer a nice smalll 4000lb winch would be ample. unless you work for the qe2 etc

Is there anything solid enough to mount a winch to on a Freelander? I thought they were made of old tinfoil plates glued and spot welded together. I can see something like this at 4:30 happening VIDEO: A Mini winches a Rolls - Top Gear Christmas Special 2011 - BBC

Theres a pic of mine without the bumper on in the what have you done to your freelander today fred.

Theres plenty of solid metal to bolt to

You could bolt it to the bumper reinforcer but... That's only Ali so is that strong enough?
