I have pics on the laptop of two freelanders with winches. One has made a bracket for it, it's made from something like 5-6mm steel plate, and fits between the Ali bumper bar and the two front to back chassis rails.
The other is mounted on an adapted Ali bumper bar. They have extended the mounts, the cut out the winch mount, it looks tidy, but seems as tho the bumper sticks out further after its been rebuilt.
