Hi,

does anyone know what this is on my window? what does it do?

and more importantly, how do I remove it?

It is stopping my wind deflector fitting properly.

Thanks

According to the Allbrit parts catalogue it a "Guide-front door glass". Probably can't be removed.
I would suggest you've bought the wrong wind deflectors. This is mine ....

ah, thanks ... the wind deflectors where on my car when i bought it, where did you get yours from? I haven't got any on the back doors so ideally would like to get a full set.

When Land Rover went from 5mm glass to 4mm glass on the old RR they stated that this addition was a guide, and to stop the glass vibrating, obviously they found that with the thinner glass there could be an issue so carried it over to the D1&2 and other models no doubt unless if that was an issue its been designed out with new models of LR.

Can't take a pic right now, it's p*ssing down. You're lucky I was able to get the first pic. They're a similar size to the ones you have fitted by the look of the two pictures. The rear ones are about two inches and run across the top. The front ones are also about two or two and a half inches, across the top and down the front edge.
The ones in the link I gave you are the proper Heko ones for the Disco 2.
The only thing you'll have to be careful about is that you check that the little spikes on the fastening clips are poking out far enough to grip properly .... you'll see what I mean if you buy that set; just give them a bit of a tweak with a pair of pliers.
You might get some idea about the size from this pic, compare with the size of the windscreen edge finisher ....
