Hi guys sorry to sound vague in my title. I just picked up my very first Land Rover Discovery on Sunday. It's a V reg with the 2.5 TD5 engine. I'm over the moon with it.

However... there is a leak coming from it. I wondered if anybody could give me a bit of info. I'm not a mechanic so sorry if these questions sound daft to everyone else on here. It's a red fluid and looks like power steering fluid but the level isn't going down? What else could it be? It's about 6" back from the centre of the number plate. Are there any other red fluids it could be?
Thanks I'm advance

If it has ACE it could be ACE fluid.

you can see if it has ACE by looking at your reservoir where the power fluid is. If it has two lids it has ACE

There is a pipe that runs from the power steering pump to the Power steering box. It runs across the front chassis rail underneath the radiator.
The part that runs across the rail is metal and prone to corrosion as it get hits with all sorts as the vehicle is moving.

Assuming the PAS level isn't going down, .... and presuming it's an auto, (?), its most likely ATF from the gearbox oil cooler. Have you checked the level in that yet ? :)

If its a manual, than it may also have a transmission oil, which is leaking - but I would be surprised if it had ATF in.

Depending on your Chassis No will depend on the part number
