Just fitted new thermostat and expansion bottle cap after engine was getting hot towing caravan. when I bled the system i noticed that there was antifreeze from bleed above gearbox but not from anywhere else. I have since ran it and left it running for over hour with no probs. Tonight I drove about 40 mile and temp gauge was on half but i dont think water pump is circulating the coolant or I have blockage. Anyone had simalar probs.

Which thermostat did you fit/replace?

Did you bleed the coolant elbow (back of the engine)

Fitted the standard thermostat and bled it from steel pipe that goes to thermostat (below air filter), at back of head near injection system and heater hose. Bri

did you fit the thermostat the right way round, and if the temp was normal why do think it is not circulating?

It was slightly above half on gauge and on turning at a roundabout heard slosh of water and temp guage dropped .

Yes the thermostat is fitted correctly. Flushed it tonight with flush agent and I am getting a little noise from pump area -this reduces if you revs are lifted. I have purchased a pump today and will fit that on monday
