I use Datas fan mod but instead of using the thermostatically controlled switch i use a switch in the cabin so i can switch them on if i see the temp rising
I did that too
when I first found my fan was faulty I wired up the electric ac fans to get me home (I was towing a caravan) then after I replaced the viscous fan I ran the wires to a switch (for a just in case) rather that pulling them out

The trouble with that is that 9 out 10 people will not see the temperature rising until it's too late, especially if they are distracted by a passenger yakking;)

Can see it becoming the norm at nuclear power stations. Old hand. "If the reactor core temp goes up flick that switch". Newbie. "What happens if the temp goes up and i'm on my lunch break"? Old hand. " No problem when you go to lunch just flick the switch that says, AUTOMATIC CORE TEMP CONTROL". :D:D

jamesmartin, where did you get the v/fan for £50? must have been ****part. The last one I bought in 06 was £105. Wammers, the fan belt was nothing compared to ....."the Byepass Hose", now that was a BASTARD.

Hello , I am new here. , so be nice , I have a p38, 4.0 , right she is overheating, I have had the two small fan put on to am manually override switches, but now I think the problem is with the viscous fan, is this a big problem, and can it be replaced, thank you

Can be replaced, can be a pig to get undone
over heating can be caused by all sorts of things especially on a v8 , you can test the viscous fan with a rolled up news paper get engine hot ie fan should be working and try and stop it with news paper if you can stop it its goosed :welcome2:
