I'm trying to buy a new Defender 90, i've rang round and it seems as though the salesman are in charge, they hold all the cards and if your lucky they might call you back, answer questions or even SELL you something!

I'm sick and tired of looking now, I've called a well known seller in Peterborough, the girl on reception was simply rude and surly. A return call that was supposed to be in '10 minutes' came 4 hours later.

I also called a dealer in North Wales and asked for some pictures to be emailed, "yes, I'll do it shortly", 3 days later, no bloody pix!

I've called a re-builder in Stourbridge with the hope of getting some prices and info on buying a used Defender and making it special, just a respray, underseal, suspension, service, seals etc etc, same again - "He's on the phone at the moment - I'll get him to call you back shortly" - no fuc**n call back yet!!

What is it with people in this country, have they got no decency any more?
I'm trying to part with some hard earned and nobody is bothered.

Bet they get several callers a day wasting there time. Did you say I got XXXX money and i want more info on YYY car you got for sale
 
Well Marshalls in Pboro are a waste of fcukin time, they look at ya like your a piece of **** if you dare disturb their day by walking into the showroom, always amazes me that in the current economic climate they couldnt care less, they should be bending over backwards to sell you something :mad::mad:

Why buy a used one from a dealer. You have 51 posts now you can put a wanted ad on here :D :D :D
 
When I lived in your neck of the woods used to buy from Merlin in Notts but they got to fookin big for their boots so we switched to Sturgess in Leics..

I did go to Peterborough - the next day, same story, the salesman didn't know his arse from his elbow and the girl on reception was still rude! Plus the car I went to see was a bag of sh*t. Waste of time, That's why I try to get some info over the phone and pictures first. It must take at least 5 mins to take some decent pictures and email them, if the salesman is so busy he can't find the time to do that I can't be bothered to travel. Simple
Having said that, the salesman was busy whe I got there - he kept me waiting for 10 minutes while he carried on a conversation with one of the mechanics!! Tits the lot of them.
 
not just car sales, I do alot of work in Theatre, recently been trying to spend a few thousand on new drapes (curtains to you lot) not had a single phonecall or email back with pricings
 
same all over, we've been waiting 4 weeks for a phone call from the samsung rep, ****er even knows we've got an order to place.
 
Have you tried Duckworths Market Rasen , a mate of mine reckons they're very helpful ? Usual disclaimers

Avenger 4x4 in Peterborough have a nice tidy blue 90 pickup for sale, you should give them a ring.
 
I once went into a BMW dealers and asked, how about a test drive on this.

The salesman just laughed.

I told him that appearances can be very deceptive and that I would go to another dealer.

Hed followed me out to my old BMW and watched me drive off:D

Yep, I've heard good reports about Duckworths too, through Alive tuning, they seem like nice honest people to deal with.
To be honest I'm not after a nearly new or new 90, just a low mileage Td5 if I can find one, main dealers seem to have anything upto about 2 years old.
I had a great conversation with High Peak 4x4 today, progress at last! Good info, interested in doing a rebuild, informative, I'll definitely be giving them a go.:)

Try Clothworks in Kelso, in the Scottish Borders. Ask for Pam, she owns the business and is married to my cousin.:)
