Looks like I may have sorted it. Turns out I'd nipped up one of the height sensor bolts a little toit... Slackened it off,
And the fault cleared itself after a couple of startups. Fingers crossed...!

Yes, poly bushes. Many on here knock them, but I've used poly bushes on every car I've ever had to replace bushes on, and they are much, MUCH better than rubber ones. Improved geometry control, handling, and last longer.... AS LONG AS they are fitted correctly. Poly bushes require lubing with copper grease before you fit them, in order to ease fitting of the suspension part back into it's mounts, because they generally take up the 'spare room' in the joint left by most standard rubber bushes - if you don't lube them, the arm / wishbone / joint can be a nightmare to get back into place. In addition, they can tend to chafe and squeak in a way that rubber ones don't, and this is the reason many people find them failing prematurely. I have to say I've never had a problem with them, and given the choice would never fit stock rubber bushes to ANY car.

But... I don't yet know if the same holds true for heavy-duty, live-axled 4x4s or not yet... Time will tell.

2 other things I've done today - finally got my amazons mounted on my 16" steelies, and tried them out on the car. I have to say, the ride is ALOT better, and tramlining significantly reduced on 16" hoops.... Even with chunky mud tyres!

And, I replaced my steering damper - and that gave an immediate and palpable improvement in stability. The 'death wobble' is now almost completely gone! The old one still gave some (but not a huge amount of) damping - the new one was significantly better, although someone testing the old one probably wouldn't have termed it 'knackered'. It's only a ****Part item, but it was cheap and readily available, so I thought I'd give it a shot - and it was worth it, IMO.

Have been following this topic from afar :behindsofa:

Well done on getting it sorted :praise:

You have done what many wouldn't...hold your hand up to making a few mistakes and taking the hit for it !! Nevertheless, you have gained a lot of experience from it and no doubt you will know better next time..no better way to learn. Anyone who can stand up and say they have never dropped a bollick is a liar !!!

Good Luck and a happy Paddies day to all the Irish and everyone else on here...Slainte
