hello everyone, so i found out the drivers side track rod end is bad, so i had rung up a parts place on Monday, i advise him its a series IIA 1963 model, so he finds out what track rod ends i needed and sends it over night i get them Tuesday and found out that he has sent a shouldered end and a full thread tie-rod end, now i know that mine is the early type ( before 74) so i ring up the place that sold me them and advise them they have sent me a fully threaded end when both should be shouldered, so he goes out the back to find 2 spares i think old ones he has in stock and claims that one end is shouldered and the other is threaded, so i take his word for it but i assumed from in the past i had to use shouldered on each side in fact all 6 in total need to be shouldered as i have researched online.

so does anyone know on here if thats right that both ends are shouldered as i have never heard of one being shouldered and one fully threaded. i have a spare out the back and both are shouldered and the previous owner used fully threaded ones and bodge the rod i.e. cut a line on the opposite of the slit thats cut from factory to make it fit.

Tony.

ahh thanks for that i will know which way the left and right hand threads go. so in the future if i need one i will know what thread it is.
i got onto a place in melbourne australia that sells parts and they list the shouldered and full threaded tie rod ends, i had only went with the supplier close to brisbane as its closer and took overnight to get to me, but anyway so i told him i want the shouldered one and they dont even tock them they only stock the right hand thread shouldered and they claim they sell the fully threaded ones for the left hand thread. i read that they need to be shouldered as there is not enough clamping force if you use the full threaded ones and you in most cases need to make a cut in the rod for the end to close up..
the fella is risking it selling the wrong part he would be liable if one caused a accident and they traced it back to him.
thing is he is a account manager that handles cash and so on so im gonna leave it as that...as we know that well yeah.

thanks again mate.

If I remember correctly it depends which track rod you have which dictates which track rod ends you should use.
