<<I've checked through all the threads - but if anyone has already answered this; sorry for the re-question.>>

My TDI200 shakes heavily after the ignition is turned off; it lasts for around 2 seconds and makes the entire car thud around.
I have changed the exhaust system, checked the timing and the top engine mounts (in case they were broken).
Any thoughts on what this could be? Some "wise?" theories are - Faulty solenoid, faulty ECM, blocked air inlet.

The car starts absolutely perfectly (almost before the key is fully turned).

I had a 110 TDI200 a while back which did the same, it was only when I drove someone elses TDI200 that I realised I had a problem!

Any thoughts geniunely appreciated as it's the only real problem with this gorgeous piece of car. :)

yer fuel injection pump tiomig is out by the sounds of it,. or it could be a faulty stop solenoid, but be warned, they are a bastard to get out ;)

Wow, that was fast. Is this something you've seen before? Only interested because you're the first person to come back with a solid answer. My local (so called) mechy was incredibly shaky on solid answers!

the stop solenoid is about a tenner from most good motor factors but you need to grind the sides off a 24mm spanner , i have one just for that job, you also have to be careful not to drop the little plastic thing into the hole as you remove it, even with a special spanner its still a bastard of a job, i would take it to a diesel specialist and have the ip timing checked first ;)

Hey Yella,

Thanks for the info on the Solenoid, with your pre-warn about the 24mm spanner I was fine. However I bought a new solenoid from Bearmach but it won't work (I guess its not reacting correctly as the engine won't turn on)... am I doing something wrong? Do I need to prime / pre-fill the solenoid with diesel???

Taking the old solenoid out, cleaning it up and reconnecting has reduced the shake a lot, so if I can get a new one to work I'm guessing it will work! :)

Finally got a working solenoid from Bearmach, however unlike the last one which wouldn't let any fuel in, this one wouldn't cut the fuel (so the car would continue to run after the power was cut) - hilarious. are bearmach any good for anything, they seem very expensive and not very good???
bring on PADDOCKS!

although after i used the stop gate from the old solenoid (with the new spring and solenoid) it turned out not to solve my problem... so Yella's theory about the mistimed fuel injector pump looks to be correct!
