Found a leak around the top left bolt by this. It appears the metal it fractured possibly. What is this unit circled called? Not my engine a google image for reference

Unit in the circle is the centrifugal filter, the top is fastened on with two bolts and it seals with an o ring under the cover. Take it off and check it. Threads on the two bolts often get stripped.

Do you have coolant leak? If you have problem with centrifugal filter housing bolt, than it is oil.

Oil cooler visible behind the centrifugal filter - that could be the source of the coolant leak?

Sorry folks me being a dummy. Top hose bleed screw leaking and it was all going back there.

Yeah, the evidence is not always at the scene of the crime! I found two separate leaks under my expansion tank and one from the front of the fuel cooler - thing was , there were coolant stains all over the right side of the engine and underneath going back to the transmission housing - coolant spraying out as fine mist when pressurised and also being swept back by air movement underneath the engine. Ideally need to pressure test.

Yeah me at late night quick look and all that. It looks like it may have sprayed the bonnet insulation and dripped down aswell as working back.

New top hose. Still leaking looks like it's the oil to water cooler aye?

Does too - looks like it's just oozing out near the top left hand corner bolt - gasket there may be compromised? From my understanding the coolant is on the outside (shell-side) and the oil moves through plates on the inside (tube-side), so might just be the gasket between the cooler shell-side and the engine block is weeping?

Looks easy to access/change when the engine is out and the exhaust manifold/turbo removed:



Maybe it's one of those leaks you can monitor/live with (for a while anyway)?
