I had a bit of a funny electrical problem over the weekend in my Girlfriend's Dad's Landrover and it's got me baffled! (It's a C-reg 90)
He just bought a stereo for it, asked me to wire it in. So I found the necessary feeds for 12v perm, 12v switched etc. But for some reason whenever the car is doing anything else electrical the stereo turns off!
Touch the brakes, stereo goes off, indicators on, stereo goes off!
How embarrassing I thought, that I could wire it so badly, I must have found a dodgy cable to take power from. So I ran live power straight from the battery, and grounded it straight from the metal plate behind the fuse-box cover. It still happens. Even with the engine running. The brakes, indicators, wipers etc all turn the stereo off! The power only dips about a Volt or so for just a moment when they're switched on.
So the power is as direct as it could be. the 12v is straight from the battery, the ground is directly on the bodywork.
Any ideas how I could stop this?
