I recently used my Fuel burning heater and later that day I had a completely flat battery. Anyway charged the battery and got the old girl going and after this I started having issues with my steering wheel tilt.
When leaving the car the wheel would try to lift out of the way however the motor would continue to motor and would only stop if I stopped manually. Also when entering the car the steering wheel would move down and try to crush my legs until again I would need to stop manually.
I have read many threads stating that it could be a dodgy battery so I changed it. I have also disconnected both battery terminals and earthed together however the problem still persists. Any ideas out there? Terry

Sounds like the steering adjustment is trying to set itself to a saved preset

You can save up to 4 different positions for different drivers of the car

Set your desired positions of everything then save it as number 1 using your seat buttons

I tried resetting the memory seat and initially it appeared ok however leave it a day or two and the problem returned?

needs diagnostics I think. Although Hippo looks to be close to a fix.

Maybe disconnect the battery for longer, then move your seat and steering around and set it to memory...
??

I remember, there is a work around for the steering colume issue.

I think you can pull a fuse to 'isolate it' just make sure its in the position you need before you pull the fuse..

good luck.

Steering wheel auto movement can be disabled with diagnostics....still retains the memory functions etc, but stops it from moving in and out when you switch on or off the ignition....saves the motors and potential snapping of the drive system!

Thanks for the replys above.
I have seen that many things can be adjusted with the IID tool however they are about £300 is anyone aware of a cheaper tool which could check and turn this off or would I be better off going to a garage?

All comms can turn it off

And £250 is little money for the amount of stuff it can do / the amount of money it could save you

Yep. All comms is a must have..

Probably the cheapest easiest thing to sort your problem also..
