I swapped my battery a couple of weeks ago with a brand new one, so I have the old one sitting in the garage.

My radio has died and I was thinking about trying to fix it. Would I be able to run it directly off the battery in the garage to test it or would it go bang?

Thanks.

no look at back of stereo-many have it in back.
No do not use domestic 3 amp fuse

a fuse is a fuse ,hrc, quick blow, anti-surge etc all designed for different applications different load carrying capacity, different rupture time ye

All true but any fuse is better than no fuse. some radios can be damaged if operated without speakers and the fuse may need to be more than 3 amp:D

Radio has a fuse in the back, so does this mean it's okay to wire directly to the battery?

Thanks a lot.

Well if it's broken already what's the worst that can happen. Few sparks and some smoke never hurt.
