Good evening chaps,

My CD player for some reason will not work, It will take the cd in the multichannel but just will not play any cd's??? I have tried another r/r head unit but its still the same!!

Any ideas?

Are you getting any error messages on the stereo display?

Have you tried a cleaner disc to clean the laser head?

could well be the Laser pickup..

what HU? did you swap for the same kind ?

tried different discs ?

Does the head unit get stuck on "checking discs" or something like that?
You could try cleaning it, could well be there's some muck in there blocking the laser or a contact.
I replaced mine in the end, after everything failed to restore life to it: they are quite easy to replace.
As per above though, make sure you're getting the correct units (usually Clarion vs Alpine)

OP you don't say if it worked previously. perhaps a previous owner has utilised the connection for an ipod?

I have tried loads of cd's but on the odd (very odd) occasion it will play but u try it again and it just won't pick anything up. I have had it since September and its been the same since then?! It says cd check and 10 secs later just goes back to the radio. It is a tad frustrating

No idea how good they are but I'm waiting for one to see if it'll bring my satnav back to life. Good luck!

while you're at it you could take a shot at cleaning the cd carrier/holder. mine was encrusted from years of close proximity to wet dog.
(or try another cd holder and see if it makes any difference.)
