Chipping may or may not be different, depends who does the remap, either stuffs more fuel in and from what I have seen neither keep the torque reduction at the required level needed to protect the auto box on shifts.

Yes, that's true, needs to be a professional map. Were Tornado chips recommended by Tomcat?
This is a manual, same as mine so good for 380nm.

Think Wammers approves Tornado chip - think it’s one he has/had.
There are some silly power M51s out there, usually in a bmw race car. The head will suffer more than most parts, they increase the cooling to compensate and the heads are okayish then. P38 has better cooling as standard but the weight means it’s got to pull harder.
Hi flow water pump would be great, I believe the metal One I had is an improvement but you’d want something that pumps more/spins faster.
You start creeping the boost up without impeccable maintenance and/or additional mods it will end in tears imo

The metal water pumps that I have seen have a lower flow rate than the plastic version

A powerbox is just a resistor that fools the ECU into chucking in more fuel, all the time regardless of conditions.
The fuel map is setup for your car by some clever boffins. There is the cooling system on your car, your exhaust (with or without a cat), the turbo and intercooler for air in and charge temperature. Then there's the burn characteristics. They'll be minimising smoke at the back while giving as much power as possible while giving credible fuel economy without stressing the head or gearbox and keeping servive intervals reasonable. Then there's low range and the throttle response for when you're creeping about in LOW. Someone has done a balancing act with the lot.
Now, you might like her to pick her skirts up a bit quicker. So, you could nudge the map a bit at lower throttle position to slip a bit more fuel in. It might smoke a tad more but you'll get away with it. You might lose a bit of economy on motorway driving but it'll pick up quicker. You can fiddle with the maps all over the place but you can see the maximums on the original map and as long as you stay under those you're probably safe. Which brings us back to the powerbox. It has no idea what the maximum is or where they are as it just chucks in more fuel all the time. So when the ECU thinks it is at max in reality there is even more fuel going in. It will get away with it for a while but depending on your driving style it will catch up sooner or later. If you're going to do something, do it properly. Fiddles always get found out in the end. That's my logic anyway. I know enough to know how ignorant I am in this area so I play it safe.
Plus, how long do you want to keep the car? Those stock M51 engines in Omegas have done return trips to the moon and back multiple times. The racing cars don't. You can only get so much use out of it when you are thrashing it. Look at the Evo service intervals and that is a production car.

I understand what you mean about the different parameters, but Shirley end of the day it just chucks in more fuel, same end produce as a transistor.
Compression or air can’t be changed, it’s not variable timing so more fuel is still all it does?

Yes, chucks in more fuel but there will be maximum amounts that shouldn't be exceeded.

I guess there's a bit more in there but that's the gist of it. It fools the ECU into thinking there is less fuel going in than there actually is.
