Hi, brand new to this forum. My 04 (old model) Discovery has developed an intermittent problem. The boot lock doesnt pop up when you press the zapper. I have to undo the back seat crawl under the dog guard, go in with the dogs and open it from the inside. Very convenient and dignfied for a woman. Then sometimes it does decide to pop up. I have done some of my own repairs in the past -fitted headlamps and wing mirrors so am prepared to give it ago. Any advice is greatly appreicated.
thanks

Get a bloke to do it then

Sounds like dodgy wiring to the boot lock, but could be your zapper needs a new battery ;)

Check the wiring where the harness bends as the lid goes up and down, there might be a break in one of them, giving them a steady pull would probably cause the break to become permanent (until you repair it) or flexing it as you operate the button should make it come and go.

Also, check the earth connection to the solenoid for the lock, operate the lock by hand to see if it's sticky - spray with WD40 if it is.

The handle gets stuck on mine, on the outside which stops it opening and locking properly, usually just wedge a screw driver in and move it (yes I'm a girl and quite capable of fixing my own boot!)
