What's the service record? when was the oil and filter last changed? Get an oil pressure test done.Hi
I recently got a 2 door suffix F Range Rover with the original v8 petrol in, the tappets are very noisy and I expect they need changing along with the camshaft, I am not sure about doing this my self so what as a ball park figure would I pay to have this done.
Thanks
+1 x 1000, For the love of simplicityIt is quite a simple bit of work...just nuts and bolts and a few cables...nowt more! don't even have to worry about timing it afterwards (the benefits of a pushrod engine!...)
Time to get it stripped down mate.straight forward job follow the manual.I have given it an oil change but no difference, I have seen wyns do something that you can put into the engine that’s supposed to quieten things down but I have a feeling it’s past that stage.
I agree, however a flush and oil change is a tad easier than pulling the engine apartIt would be mostly pointless....a new camshaft, new followers and new pushrods plus the top end gaskets are not overly expensive at the end of the day...but is about 2 days work
Thats the I've nothing to loose idea, which is a good rule of thumb, budget panding of course. Some new race cams?I agree, however a flush and oil change is a tad easier than pulling the engine apart
And if it doesn't work, pull it apart!![]()
It has been standing for a few years prior to it being put back on the road, driving it though has made no difference, I will strip it my self if it’s to much to have done, I just lack a bit of confidence on this to be honest.
I am thinking the same as our enry, but it is your call matey?I have thought about giving it more of a blow out but could I do damage
Nah it'll do it good.I have thought about giving it more of a blow out but could I do damage
Aye.I’ll give it a go, I may put some Wynn’s hydraulic valve lifter in it as well. If you see a Blue 2 door Range Rover in the lay-by give us a tow.
