just to annoy some greeny types a year or so ago I did some research (didnt take long) and the V8 discovery put out less CO2/km than the basic porshe boxter :) that shut em up :)

my fender does the same "damage" than the Kia I had before it, on a cradle to grave basis much much less, I cant see my old kia being around at 17 years old

I could drive my disco 15k miles a year for 6 years and produce the same eco damaged as it does to produce the batterys for the prius. Just the production, iirc its likr 18, 500 something for the batterys sat in the car waiting for you to collect. Ignoring the rest of the car as that evens the making of the landy. Then those batterys need changing every 5 years. Then there is the disposal.

Above figures are for the 3.9 v8 as new, age will make it less fuel efficient and all the rest of the blah blah blah but taking all that into account and the fact I don't do 15k+ a year my land rover is more eco friendly than a prius.

This is where everyones "dislike" of our chosen steeds callapse in a big eco pile of crap.....LR is still the ONLY company in the world that can make the claim that since 1948 over 70% of their vehicles are still in use!
Most using old and refurbed parts and with owners who fix stuff rather than scrap / dump vehicles as they want shiny new ones..:D:D

My missis nearly left me when I bought the range rover. She hated it, was far too big blah blah blah. And now I can't get her out of 'her car' it's the best thing in the world n she feels safe etc. she didn't like driving on motorways until I bought it. Now she doesn't have any probs.

Although she still won't drive the disco

I had someone once go off on one on the green front when i was on a lane once in my series. I let them rant for a while then pointed out my Landy is nearly 50 years old and still going strong... they looked a bit vacant and i drove on :D

Maybe because she'd catch some terrible disease by going in it - either that or she'd spend her life brushing the mud and crap out of her clothes & hair:p

My other half wont drive our D2 but because it's 11 years old keeps on about buying a D4, nothing wrong with the one we have so I cock a deff un .
