Just filled up with new antifreeze, in France it comes ready mixed, it gives minus 30C protection and is supposedly biodegradeable.
Strangly, the engine is now running a little cooler according the the gauge, it's always run just below 12 o'clock, now it's the thickness of the needle cooler.
Anyone have any idea why this might be?
All I can think of is that the new coolant has greater ability to transfer heat but it doesn't sound a convincing answer.

Quite possibly Keith also perhaps the accumulated deposits from the old coolant may well retain heat, so after a few months the new coolant having accumulated deposits may put the needle back on to 12 o'clock.

of course there's also the fact that being a p38 it's giving an electrical revenge for being messed with !

Dunno, it was flushed when the RAD went and had been running on tapwater with no difference in indicated temperature.

its probably got an additive in which lowers the surface tension of the coolant we used to use redline water wetter in the rally cars lowers temps down by 10 to 15c, better heat transfer

Maybe its mixed with De-mineralised water - getting back to the soft water/ 'wetter' water plus your flush ?

It's all premixed in France with distilled water.

The water in our well, when there is any, is a strong mixture of cow **** which should stop it freezing

You should bottle it and sell it as Lager, the lager drinkers wouldn't know the difference

Well known that antifreeze will find any weak spots and cause leaks. So yes it will flow through gaps water won't flow through.

We were talking lager not great beer Tony. I like proper Bitter not the keg sh!t, too many chemicals in that, gives me a headache. Real ale, whiskey, red wine or a cheeky rose suits me.
