Still doing OK with the lock down I hope Tony? Apart from the return of winter, all is OK here, been having fun putting a wrecked Quad back together![]()
Not so bad Keith. You and yours keep safe until this is over.

We are lucky Tony, we live in the middle of nowhere, plus our region has the lowest incidence in France of Covid-19 infections. Things are pretty tough where you are I imagine. It will be a while before things get back to normal here and in the UK.Not so bad Keith. You and yours keep safe until this is over.![]()
As the car has a MAF, that figure is normal, it's for the IAT sensor which isnot present on your car.small update.
got a chance to spend and hour at the car this morning
I removed the tuning box and reconnected the MAF and brought the car for a spin,it was down in power,I disconnected the MAF and car ran fine, not as good as with the tuning box but not dangerously slow.
I had the nanocom plugged in to check the boost pressure and while i was doing that i noticed the air tempature was -38, I presume this is not normal?
The OP's car has a MAF, so it will have a plastic manifold.
Is there any harm in just leaving the MAF disconnected? As the car has a MAF, that figure is normal, it's for the IAT sensor which isnot present on your car.
Sounds like the MAF may be defective, they are pretty reliable so an inexpensive one from a breaker may be worth a try.
Nanocom should show that the MAF is not present but with no fault code.
Not a good idea, it will fail the MOT for a start. Is there any harm in just leaving the MAF disconnected?
Im in ireland so no MOT,it's registered as commercial so CVRT would be the equivalent which isn't overly strictNot a good idea, it will fail the MOT for a start.
The oméga version had an egr with an aluminum manifold. I've got that setup on my spare engine...The OP's car has a MAF, so it will have a plastic manifold.
My Transit has EGR but no MAF, the MAF is not essential for EGR.The oméga version had an egr with an aluminum manifold. I've got that setup on my spare engine...

I doubt it will do any harm, not something I would do though. Surprised there is no MOT how do the EU allow that I wonder?Im in ireland so no MOT,it's registered as commercial so CVRT would be the equivalent which isn't overly strict
have no problem changing it if it's needed. was just wondering would it cause any damage to leave it disconnected
there is tests,I think that the NCT ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Car_Test )would be be the test that is equivalent to the MOT and CVRT is for commercial vehiclesI doubt it will do any harm, not something I would do though. Surprised there is no MOT how do the EU allow that I wonder?
I'll pick up a used one and put it inI’d replace the MAF is it’s faulty if you are keeping it
Given your issues I would make sure it is disconnected. The management is tricky enough without third-party add on fiddling with the inputs and outputs.
Also, personal opinion, I wouldn't have a tuning box on mine. I'd have a different chip but no tuning box. Almost all the cracked heads I have seen on here involved a tuning box.
the car is pretty gutless since i removed the tuning box what would ye recommend i replace it with?A duff MAF can certainly cause loss of power, there have been more than one reports of that being the case. The car will run perfectly well with it disconnected as a temporary measure. Leave the vacuum pipe to the EGR disconnected, the EGR will then remain closed and you will not be filling your engine with shyte and it is then not necessary to block the EGR pipe which is more difficult.
I would certainly disconnect the power box, I removed the one from mine a long time ago and sold it, they can cause damage to the autobox.
Nothing unless you are prepared for it to eat the gearbox. Otherwise a proper re-map.I'll pick up a used one and put it in

was doing a bit of googling regarding remap and couldn't find anywhere near me doing it,wonder could i send ECU off to be remapped or even buy an ecu that is remapped all ready?+1 on remap. As Datatek says you have to be careful of the HP22 box. The HP24 fits if you fancy swapping it. The manual box picks up way quicker but has its own niggles.
