nearly forgot to ask,
Anyone know why a lower boot lid wouldn’t open, was working fine and when I press the button it sounds like it’s unlocking but doesn’t, ive tried a good thump but didn’t free it up, I wonder if I’ve trapped something in the latch but didn’t want to give it a big kick if it might be a technical reason why it’s not opening.
 
If you look down the sides of the lower tailgate from above (where the sides meat the frame of the car) you'll see a tab down there - either push them or pull them (can't remember which) together and this will unlatch the tail gate.

The lock solenoids are known to fail (ask me how I know!)
 
Ah ok that seems pretty straightforward, I can hear what sounds like the solenoid moving but could just be one side I guess

Sorted it, turned out to be crap in the mecganism that had rusted itself in there making the latch unable to open, plenty of wd40 got it cleaned up and working right again
