Hi everybody, im new on here.

Was driving along yesterday in my Discovery 200tdi when there was a loss of power. When I tried to start it again was very difficult to start. I changed the fuel flter and air filter today and tried to bleed injectors. not much fuel came out of injectors so am i right to think fuel pump or i thought maybe sedimenter blocked?when i took drain plug out of fuel sedimenter nothing drained out? iv tried to put a bit of wire up the drain hole and feels like its iced up inside or thought maybe diesel had waxed up and blocked it, the most i can get out of it is a drip of diesel?anybody else had this problem? was thinking of taking a hair dryer to the sedimenter? any other ideas?

Any idea would be great

Thanks Josh

just to update, sedimentor was full of ice at the bottom, cleared this out. sucked diesel through feed pipe to diesel pump, yet when i turn it over on the starter it just will not start.HELP!!!running out of ideas whats wrong!

lift pump?

take the intake diesel pipe at the fuel filter and crack the engine on the key, check if there's diesel flying everywhere

changed lift pump, little better it now at least tries to start!gives a grumble and then dies again. Noticed its now leaking diesel from injector pump, just under the throttle cable spring, could this be the cause my problems or has this been caused by something else??i.e inj pump having to pull diesel through because lift pump not working properly? if i undo all the injectors there is diesel but don't know if its enough diesel?! Could pump get nackered from waxy diesel?

the pump could be nackered if the fuel is too thick or veg oil has gooed up the pipes....

check the pipes at injectors have fuel befor removing injectors.just undoo bolts the crank it over.....see if it sprays on rocker cover or not..

Does spray onto rocker cover. will seal leaking on throttle shaft of inject pump cause it to suck air in?just realised i hadnt mentioned lots of white smoke when trying to start(sorry!)

white smoke on a failed cold start is usually unburnt diesel.... normally indicates the heater plugs aint working

thought that at first but light on dash operating(on at ign off after a few secs) as it should and would this explain the power loss that started all the problems!

the light on the dash working doesnt mean the plugs are actually getting hot, 200 doesnt normally need much heat to start but this weather aint normal...ive been caught too many times by not checking the obvious to start with. but you could be looking at timing belt jumping a tooth
